Location info: The far end of Conyngham Hall main car park, on the grass near the ruins. Postcode HG5 9AX; OS grid ref SE342574; What3words outpost.dignity.drummers. Easy 10 min walk from the train station. If by car, parking fees apply: 1h – 90p, 2h – £1.80, 4h – £3.

Timings:   Coaching session from 1720 (see below), registration opens 1745, starts from1800-1900, courses close 1930 sharp. 

Event fees: BOF Members £5, Non-members £6, Juniors (under-25) £3. Timing chip hire: Seniors £1, Juniors £0.50 (fee for a lost chip: £30).

Courses: 4 courses: Short Beginners (1.2k), Long Beginners (2.1k), Short Experienced (2.7k), Long Experienced 3.9k)
Beginners courses are Yellow/Orange standard, Experienced are Light Green/Green standard. Long Experienced will be a ‘map-memory’ intended as training exercise (backup map available!) All courses stay within the park.

Terrain description: An attractive park on either side of the River Nidd with fields and some woodland. Plenty of paths for the less technical courses, and some trickier challenges in the woodland for the more experienced. Some steep banks on experienced courses.  Leg coverings are strongly recommended. The area is popular with a wide range of users – please show respect and be prepared to give way.

Coaching: a pre-event coaching session will be led by Quentin Harding starting at 17:20, with the opportunity to afterwards practise skills learned on the course of your choice. The session is planned to end shortly after 18:00 to allow evening courses to be completed. For this sesson, the topic will be fine navigation.

Safety and Risk: a comprehensive risk assessment is carried out for all Claro events, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. If travelling alone, please report to registration before starting. All competitors who start must report to Download even if they retire. Competitors are recommended to carry a whistle. In the event of bad weather, organisers may require competitors to carry/wear a waterproof jacket, so please travel prepared. In the unlikely event of extreme weather forecast, any cancellation will be advertised on the website, so please check in advance.
